Scuru Fitchadu Take On The Politics Of Art At The Atlantic Music Expo
Scúru Fitchádu is a punk aesthetic solo project from portuguese artist Sette Sujidade. It combines agressive basslines, heavy beats and traditional funana from Capeverde islands.
However, Marcus Veiga's artistic projection results from a fusion of aesthetically opposed musical styles and leads to the creation of a unique musical (sub-)genre, which lies between Cape Verde's funaná and punk and hardcore. This idea of fusion, which at first appears to be a bit absurd, had already shown positive results in his eponymous EP released in 2016.
